Amex Platinum Adds ₹15,000 Taj Hotel Credit

American Express has increased the annual Taj Hotels statement credit on the American Express Platinum Card from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000. The new hotel credit is available annually and represents a ₹5,000 increase in value for eligible cardholders. The card’s annual fee remains ₹60,000 plus GST, and the Centurion Lounge access and Fine Hotels + Resorts benefits remain unchanged. The new art-themed card design will be available on renewal, which means existing cardholders will see the new look when their card is reissued.

The adjustment improves the card’s luxury-hospitality value proposition without changing the core premium travel package. The Taj credit now covers a larger portion of a luxury stay or dining bill at Taj properties, and the increase from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 is a meaningful 50% uplift in statement credit value. Since the annual fee stays at ₹60,000 + GST, the incremental benefit can help offset the high fee for cardholders who regularly stay at Taj Hotels. The unchanged Centurion Lounge access and FHR privileges preserve the card’s top-tier travel positioning.

This is most relevant for existing and renewing American Express Platinum cardholders who can actually use the Taj credit in a year. For frequent luxury travelers, the card remains competitive with other super-premium products because the hotel credit is now more generous. For users who do not stay at Taj properties, the additional ₹5,000 value may not materially change the card’s economics. Compared with cards like Axis Magnus or SBI Elite, the Amex Platinum remains a different proposition entirely: much higher fee, but more elite travel and hotel benefits.

Cardholders do not need to enroll separately if the credit is automatically linked to eligible Taj spends, but they should verify the exact redemption mechanism in the card terms. The new art-themed design will appear on renewal, so existing users should not expect an immediate physical card replacement unless Amex issues one. Customers should also confirm whether the credit is split across transactions or requires a single qualifying spend at Taj Hotels. Since the annual fee is substantial, users should track whether they are extracting at least ₹15,000 in value from the Taj credit alone, before counting lounges and FHR benefits.
